Brodie picks up 5th, Will 13th at Tailem Bend
Erebus Motorsport's Brodie Kostecki has finished with the team's best result of fifth this weekend, though Will Brown was unable to capitalise on his race pace with a best of 13th.
Will, who had a career-best result yesterday, qualified 15th, and later started 18th after a grid penalty post-qualifying.
When the lights went out Brodie got away well from 12th and made the most of his pace to work through the opening-lap chaos and move up to fifth.
Behind him, Will was also on the move and passed three cars to get back to his original start position before the end of the opening lap.
The pit window opened on lap five and Brodie stopped for left-hand-side tyres only, before Will followed two laps later. Fast stops by the crew saw them eventually emerge fifth and 13th when the field was cleansed.
Will fought hard to make it inside the top ten though couldn't get it done, while Brodie secured his second top-five finish this season.
At the start of the afternoon's second race, Will started from 13th on the grid ahead of Brodie in 18th.
Both drivers got away well though it quickly came undone for Will who was knocked around on the opening laps. The #9 was pushed off onto the grass as the race got underway which ultimately sent him back to last place, before more contact sent him off a second time. A blown rear tyre saw Will lose a heap more time as he wobbled back to the pits at the end of lap two.
Brodie on the other hand gained six spots on the opening lap and demonstrated tremendous race pace on the way to his pit stop on lap five for left-hand-side tyres. Will took his compulsory stop at the end of lap 21, with only three laps remaining.
Both drivers showed tremendous race pace, Brodie charging through to 11th before the chequered flag while Will couldn't recover from the earlier incidents in P24.
The team now have three weeks to prepare for the next event at Winton Motor Raceway, May 29 – 30.
