Anton secures seventh for Shootout
Penrite Racing's Anton De Pasquale has secured a spot in tomorrow's Shootout and guaranteed himself a top ten start for Sunday's big race.

Anton set a time of 2:04.4668 midway through the 40-minute qualifying session, which was good enough for seventh at the end.

Teammate David Reynolds set his fastest lap of 2:04.6730 on the same lap which saw him P13 on the timesheets.

Drivers headed out for their final run with 5-minutes on the clock, though rain fell late at the top of the Mountain, which saw majority of the field unable to go any quicker and abort their lap.

Anton De Pasquale was happy to make his third Bathurst-shootout in three years: "The goal for Friday is to make the Shootout – it's the coolest and best session of the year to be a part of. We haven't missed one here yet so it's really cool to make it again.

"We weren't in the best position after practice, so we had to work pretty hard for it. You have 40-minutes so it's cool to go out on new tyres every time and build yourself up and go faster and faster. My lap wasn't the world's best but it was pretty good and we'll work overnight to make it better tomorrow for the Shootout when it really matters."

David Reynolds also commented: "We didn't find our best direction until qualifying today and it was probably just a little too late. I think if we found what we did a little earlier then we really would have been able to fine tune it.

"Obviously, I missed out on putting down a lap at the end so I think we could have made the ten had we had done that lap but it's not unusual for something like what happened to happen at Bathurst.

"I'm still optimistic and confident for Sunday, we're not starting from as far up as we would like but it's not bad and if our race car can be fast on Sunday then we are in with a chance for a good result."

There are two more practice sessions tomorrow ahead of the Shootout at 5:05pm local time.
