Truck Assist TEKNO Racing Perth Race Report
Truck Assist TEKNO Racing driver Jack Le Brocq showed signs of promise, as the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship raced under lights at Perth's Barbagallo Raceway.
The pair of races from the fifth event of the season netted results of 20th and 22nd.
"It was a fantastic experience to race here at Barbagallo Raceway under lights, everyone involved should be congratulated for putting together a really top event," said Le Brocq.
"This weekend for our Truck Assist machine we showed signs of strong pace throughout, which is encouraging, and something we can work on moving forward.
"Friday's race started really well, we made up some places and had some decent speed, but unfortunately the tyre degradation wasn't what we expected, so the strategy of stopping late didn't work in our favour.
"Saturday was a tough one, the strategy also didn't quite work out with where the safety car fell.
"I'm looking forward to heading back to Winton now, and it's great that Truck Assist are getting right behind the round!"
The Perth event kicked off on Thursday evening with a lone 30-minutes of practice, with Le Brocq setting the 14th best time, enjoying a good car balance straight out of the transporter.
The second practice held early on Friday afternoon saw Le Brocq register the 22nd fastest lap, before placing 24th in qualifying.
A strong start saw Le Brocq gain three places on the opening circuit, before settling in 17th after lap two.
Running a long strategy in the 50-lap race, Le Brocq rose up to fifth place before pitting on lap 27.
Picking off places in the run to the chequered flag, Le Brocq was eventually classified in 20th.
After being 25th place in both final practice and qualifying, Le Brocq held station off the race start, before pitting for a big fuel load on lap eight.
After a second stop mid-race, Le Brocq visited the pits under safety car on lap 51, but being trapped a lap down upon the resumption of racing, he was not able to climb higher than 22nd place in the sprint home.
After the opening 12 races of season 2019, Le Brocq is currently placed 22nd in the series standings, with the next race on the calendar the Truck Assist Winton SuperSprint from May 24-26.
