Its been a long break and felt like longer. But Supercars are back!

First race back at SMP and McLaughlin led the Red Bull's home. All used 8 soft tyres in the race out of their allocation of 12. With 2 races to go, it will be interesting to see if a team holds back their soft tyres in Sunday's first race to take full advantage of them in the final race of the weekend.

Impressive run from Percat to claim 5th, the rest of the field similar to results at Adelaide.

The story of the year is likely to be aero again. All cars have too much aero, create too much dirty air and make it too hard for cars to pass. It ruins the racing. Track position will be worth significantly more across the year as a result.

The racing was good across the SMP weekend. There were less passes in Saturday's race as all cars had equal tyres. With teams able to use their tyre bank at different rates on Sunday, it offered opportunities for varied grips and strategy. The best still rose to the top and claimed the most from the weekend.

Still a little surprised a struggling car didn't use a set of hard tyres for a stint in any race, seeking to have a tyre grip later on.

The aero wash issue will come up regularly. It will be a significant issue at Bathurst.
